Arctic, Antarctic and Mountain initiative
The Arctic, Antarctic and Mountain initiative within MEB aims to increase the availability and utilization of cold-biome microclimate data, and to highlight the importance of cold-biome microclimates for ecological processes to the wider ecological community.
Several collaborative projects are currently underway, specifically investigating
– our current knowledge on microclimate ecology in cold biomes, and an outline of the crucial research agenda in the field,
– the creation of high-resolution microclimate maps for cold environments, similar to the ForestClim-products generated by Haesen et al.,
– the benefit of in-situ microclimatic and community data for species distributions under macroclimatic change.
If you work in Arctic, Antarctic and/or alpine environments and would like to be part of this effort, please get in touch!
